Alex Rockwell is one of the workers of Sunrise Bakery in "The Baker in the Bits". He is a friend and former cell mate of Thomas Saltz.

Biography[]

He was framed for the murders committed by Roger Flender. Seven months after his arrest, while going over the case as Rockwell's execution approached, Temperance Brennan realized that Rockwell couldn't have murdered Leonard Barnes as old rotator cuff injuries would've prevented Rockwell from having the strength to commit the murder. However, Rockwell was never tried for that murder as there wasn't enough evidence at trial and Judge Edwards refused to stay his execution. As Rockwell's execution approached, the FBI and Jeffersonian attempted to prove his innocence, but Rockwell had given up and refused to cooperate. Thanks to an inspiration by Booth, the FBI located the body of Tracy Taylor, a victim murdered after Rockwell's arrest, but it still wasn't enough. After connecting Barnes to Roger Flender, the owner of the bakery who Rockwell supposedly injured before his arrest, it was determined that Flender was actually the killer and had framed Rockwell. Booth managed to locate the murder weapon and compass Flender used to carve a Masonic symbol into his victims which was enough for Judge Edwards to stop the execution. Rockwell was spared from the death penalty at the literal last minute and exonerated to start a new life.
