Norman Hayes appears in The Feet on the Beach. He was the killer of the episode, having grown mad when the victim, Dylan McEllroy planted marijuana and ruined his postgraduate work which would leave him $60,000 in debt with nothing to show for it. Norman had intended to use a mower to cut down the pot, but Dylan stood in front of him and refused to move. Norman didn't stop, believing Dylan would move and accidentally cut off his feet with the mower. Dylan bled to death and Norman covered up the murder by using bug food to attract more bugs and increase the rate of decomposition. Once Hodgins figured this out, they realized that he was the only one with an alibi for what they thought was the time of the murder and thus likely knew he needed one. When confronted, Norman confessed and showed remorse for his actions, having never intended to murder anyone.
