The Headless Witch in the Woods is the tenth episode of the second season of Bones.

Bones and Booth are investigating the murder of a film student in a Virginia forest. The victim was a film student at a local university attempting to film a documentary about a witch named Maggie Cinders that was beheaded in 1783 that, according to myth, still haunts the woods.

The friends of the victim believe that the ghost of Maggie Cinders killed their friend. As expected an unlikely person is arrested at the end of the episode. However, Bones goes on a date with the victim's brother and Booth shows up and arrests him for the murder of his brother. The killer blames the ghost of Maggie Cinders for making him chop off his brother's head. While this is dismissed by Bones and Booth, at the very end of the episode a phantom figure can be seen in the video that is recovered from the crime scene, Angela and Hodgins get scared, dismiss it as a reflection, and agree to stay at Hodgins' house for the night.
