The X in the File is the eleventh episode of the fifth season of Bones.

Booth and Brennan go to New Mexico to investigate when a body is found in the desert near Roswell. Meanwhile, the relationship between Wendell and Angela comes to light.

Summary Edit

Wendell and Angela reveal to Hodgins that they are together.  Hodgins is discomforted but pretends to be okay with it. Later, he seeks advice from Sweets, and tells him that "he grieves what he had" and that it would only take time to heal. Meanwhile, Booth and Brennan find a body that is questioned to be extraterrestrial.  They are forced to cooperate with "hillbillies and alien obsessed nerds" throughout the show. They also have to work in a hospital since they can't take the body back to the Jeffersonian.

Notes Edit

This episode contains several allusions to The X-Files, a TV show about mysterious unexplainable cases FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully investigate, most notably with an overarching storyline about governmental cover-ups of alien activity on earth. Dean Haglund (Blaine Miller - the UFO diner owner) played Richard Langley, one of the Lone Gunmen, in the X-Files.

A few bars of the X-Files theme tune are played at various points in the episode.

The photo of Dave Thomas from Rocketship 7 in the diner is David Boreanaz's father. Rocketship 7 was a children's television series that aired weekday mornings on WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York from 1962 to 1978.
